The Fire/Rescue Division is responsible for fire protection and
extinguishment in our response zone as well as technical rescue
situations such as vehicle extrication, high angle rope rescue, confined
space, and trench rescue. The members of the Fire Rescue Division
train to provided enhanced services to the public and surrounding
Departments on a regular basis. Recently the Department has
been training in providing Rapid Intervention Team coverage for
surrounding departments to rescue firefighters who may become trapped in
a structure. EVFD currently operates two engine companies, a truck
company and a rural water tanker. A majority of these
members are cross trained to provide service in the EMS and SCUBA
Divisions.

The EMS Division is responsible for providing Basic Life Support
services to the community and is currently equipped with two ambulances.
Members of EMS are trained from a minimum of the American Red Cross
Emergency Responder level, to the Emergency Medical Technician level,
and the Paramedic level. The EMS division remains one of the
busiest divisions in the Department with approximately 80% of the call
volume. Members are also cross trained to provide fire and rescue
support as well as EMS support. The EMS division currently
provides medical and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) coverage
24/7, 365 days a year averaging 2-3 calls per day with an entire
volunteer staff.

The Fire Police Division provides scene safety and control for the
EMS and Fire/Rescue Division by conducting traffic control operations
and scene security. The Fire Police are the front line interface
to the public as most event occur within a corridor that they setup to
protect the Department members operating on the scene from oncoming
traffic and other hazards. The Division also provides traffic
control for numerous community events from Edinboro University's
Homecoming parade to the Hamot Triathlon.

The SCUBA Division is made up of members from all of the other
Divisions who are trained in self-contained underwater breathing
apparatus or SCUBA diving. These members are trained in Basic
Diving, Advanced Diving, Ice Diving and Boat Operations. The team
currently is equipped with underwater communications, lifting bags, an
underwater camera, and a equipment/support trailer in addition to a
pontoon boat on Edinboro Lake. The team responds to water rescues,
searches, and recoveries in Erie and Crawford county when requested.
