It's the middle of the night and you or a loved one is sick or injured and is in immediate need of Emergency Medical Services. When seconds count, finding your address quickly can mean the difference between life and death.

When Fire Department crews are searching a street for a particular house in an emergency, it is often difficult to read addresses. Sometimes the numbers are too small to see from the road, or are obscured by trees and other objects, or are painted a color too close to the color of the house and even in some cases are absent altogether.

Reflective Address Signs make finding a house during an emergency much faster. The Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department has decided to offer these signs to the citizens of our response district at a minimal cost ($15.00 per sign). They are made of the same reflective material and have the same color combination as standard street signs. All signs are pre-drilled, easy to install and are available in either a vertical or horizontal orientation.

It is and it shall be the duty of each and every owner, trustee, lessee, agent, occupant, and possessor of each and every house, building, or other structure located in Washington Township, whether on a public or private street or road, to cause the same to be numbered with its official building number assigned by Washington Township. The number shall be permanently posted as set forth herein. All persons required to number existing houses, buildings, or other structures shall contact Washington Township and secure an assigned building number and official street or road name. The building number shall be placed in a conspicuous place on or over each front door, on the front transom bar, front transom glass, or front show window, over or on either side of the entrance, or on a clearly visible mailbox, fence, post, mount, or other similar structure located upon the subject property. The number shall be of paint, metal, enamel, or vinyl, and the color of the number shall be in contrast to the immediate background. The number shall be of sufficient size and in full view so as to be identifiable and readable from the opposite side of the street or road. Any building number not affixed to a building shall be positioned such that snow, leaves, tree branches, or other such impediments shall not impair the visibility required by this article.

Signs can be purchased either online through the use of PayPal or through cash or check orders with the Address Sign Request Form. Once you have submitted your order, please allow one to two weeks for our members to build your sign and then we will mail to the address you provided.
