On Friday, October 4th, at approximately 11:41 PM, the Emergycare LifeStar helicopter piloted by Heinz Schulz, 59, was lost in wooded terrain on approach to Bradford Regional Airport.  LifeStar was on a routine inter-hospital transfer from Kane Community Hospital to a hospital in the Pittsburgh area.

LifeStar touched down at the Kane Hospital and dropped of the Paramedic and Flight Nurse to stabilize the patient, while Pilot Heinz departed to refuel at the Bradford Regional Airport.  News reports indicate that Pilot Heinz contacted flight control that he was on final approach to the airport and no other contact was made.  Crews began searching for the missing helicopter and pilot immediately and throughout Saturday and Sunday afternoon when the wreckage was discovered at approximately 1:15 PM.

The thoughts, prayers, and condolences of the Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department are with Heinz's family, his friends, the Emergycare family, and with all who knew him.
