At 1833 hours, Edinboro, CECPA Medic 2, McKean, Cranesville, Mill Village, Cambridge Springs, Franklin Township, West Ridge and Waterford (RIT) were alerted for a commercial structure fire at Cooper Hall at Edinboro University. Engine 382, Truck 389, Rescue/Engine 384, Squad 388 and Fire Police 399 responded with twenty two volunteers. CECPA Medic 2 arrived on location and reported a working fire on the roof of the building. Deputy Chief 381 (Karotko) advised Erie County 911 to have West Mead #2 dispatched for a second RIT team to assist. Engine 382 arrived on scene and reported a four story, brick and steel assembly with a heating and cooling unit on fire on the roof. Captain 391 (Sheeder) assumed command. Truck 389 was right behind the engine and set up the ladder on the alpha/ bravo corner. 382's crews had to force entry into the building and proceeded to the third floor to check for extension while 389's crew went to the roof. 389's crew was able to make a knock down on the fire. 382's crew reported negative extension on the third floor and proceeded to the roof and assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. The fire was quickly ruled under control and all mutual aid units were placed in-service. Crews were on scene for approximately an hour and a half.
